S.P. Somtow's live readings
A very special event at the Neilson Hays Library, starting 14 May 2008, 7.30PM.
Last month, those who came to S.P. Somtow's new book launch at the Neilson Hays Library were treated to a glimpse of his yet-to-be-published book, "JADE". Somtow read two chapters from the book, and it was such a big hit that the Library asked him to come back and read more! He has agreed to give readings every two months, on a subscription basis.
Live readings from novels were a wildly popular attraction in the 19th century, such as Charles Dickens' famous 1867 reading tour of the US. He enchanted thousands of people with his dramatic and entertaining readings from his novels. Library members and friends in Bangkok will be the first to enjoy the revival of this exciting tradition, unique in the world today!
