Not a free country

According to Freedom in the World - 2007, published by Freedom House, Thailand is NOT A FREE country, ranking 5.5, alongside Brunei and Cambodia. Vietnam ranks 6, China and Laos 6.5, and, of course, Myanmar (Burma) and North Korea rank 7!

Countries are ranked according to political rights and civil liberties on a scale from 1.0 (most free) to 7.0 (least free).

That survey is full of crap. They rate the US at 1, but really the US is anything but a free country. The government spies on people at whim, arrests whomever they please for whatever reason they see fit, steal elections and exclude candidates from what should be free debates.

Three years in Thailand showed me that Thailand is much freer than America.

Maybe you're right, but still it's Freedom House who released the numbers! That must tell you something!

Haha, I hope you're joking. A quick search on Wikipedia tells all:

A US-based organization that receives 75% of its funding from the US government, and has been criticized as being biased towards countries with pro-US positions.

Even under a military dictatorship, I felt freer in Thailand than I ever did in the US.
